About The Position

The Insurance Verification Specialist is responsible for participating in hospital activities that directs customers, collects patient demographic and insurance information and processes that information via an internal computer system for collections and reimbursement.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Demonstrates characteristics that support the values, vision, mission, policies and procedures of McLaren Oakland.

Responsibilities

• Interprets patient/visitor requests for services.
• Meets with patient/representative to obtain necessary registration/insurance information.
• Verifies insurance for all Inpatient, Outpatient Surgery and others as necessary.
• Work closely with Case Management and Patient Accounting to secure hospital payment.
• Coordinates request for application of payment assistance.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Reports equipment failure to designated repair source.
