About The Position

The Insurance Verification Specialist is responsible for retrieving insurance breakdown information prior to patient appointments, ensuring accurate data entry into Open Dental, and reviewing existing insurance plans for accuracy. This role also involves updating patient benefit information, coordinating with various teams, and ensuring an exceptional patient experience. Various other duties may be requested by the supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3 - 5 years of experience working with insurance companies and extensive knowledge of different types of coverage and policies
• Computer, telephone, internet, Virtual fax machine

Nice To Haves

• Associate Degree or Higher
• Open Dental knowledge
• Dental insurance verification experience

Responsibilities

• Retrieve insurance breakdown information prior to patient appointments.
• Ensure accurate data entry into Open Dental of the insurance plan information.
• Review existing insurance plans in Open Dental to combine and ensure accuracy of existing dental plans.
• Correct any errors as necessary.
• Update patient benefit information in the organization’s insurance system and verify that existing information is accurate to ensure the patient receives a correct estimate of insurance payments for the treatment being presented.
• Coordinate with the practice, the third-party vendor, and the RCM team.
• Work with assigned practice teams to ensure an exceptional patient experience.
• Various other duties as requested by the supervisor.
