ED Admitting candidates will be cross trained in both areas Day-to-day Duties: Confirm patient insurance coverage, identify potential authorization needs for treatment, and collect patient demographics and medical information to ensure appropriate patient account reimbursement - Utilizing EPIC for patient intake and updating / verifying demographics - Authorizing patients for beds - Handle claims, request authorizations, and attach referrals - Identify services requiring authorization for treatment and referral information - Verify Patient Insurance and input correct options for pre-registration > HMO vs. PPO >Medicare, Medi-caid > Collect Co-pay and discuss shared costs / patient financial responsibility - Receiving calls from case managers from other ministries and/or healthcare facilities - Utilize knowledge of medical terminology - Work closely with physician offices/ministries - Deal with various department at remotes locations, may be supporting other locations - Customer Service: Make internal employees as well as patients comfortable over the phone and in-person
