Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Working knowledge of surgical routine and medical terminology

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree related to healthcare
  • AHIMA or AAPC certification
  • Registration, Business Office (billing/coding claims) and Health Information Management experience

Responsibilities

  • Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, coverage, and medical policy requirements.
  • Calculate deductibles, coinsurance, copays, and estimated patient financial responsibility.
  • Communicate insurance benefits, payment expectations, and available payment options to patients.
  • Complete accurate patient registration and maintain insurance and demographic information.
  • Assign appropriate procedural and diagnostic codes for surgical procedures.
  • Coordinate with physician offices regarding authorizations, patient information, and scheduling needs.
  • Greet and assist patients and visitors while providing a positive patient experience.
  • Answer multi-line phones and route calls professionally.
  • Provide scheduling support, including communicating case additions, cancellations, and changes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation within applicable patient and scheduling systems.
  • Partner with clinical and business office teams to support efficient daily operations.
