About The Position

Sierra Medical Center is part of Northern Nevada Health System, a regional multi-facility system that has excelled at offering quality care to residents of the greater Truckee Meadows. Sierra Medical Center is a 170-bed acute care hospital offering services including 24/7 ER care, cardiology, oncology, labor and delivery, level II NICU, surgical and orthopedic services, and much more. The position is responsible for the verification of benefits for all hospital patients. It arranges for the efficient and orderly pre-admission of inpatients and outpatients, and appropriate follow up for emergency department admissions. Ensures that the patient information is collected and that patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures. Interviews incoming patient or representatives and enters information required for admission into computer database. Distributes appropriate information to ancillary departments. Participates in performance improvement and CQI activities.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent
Ability to type 40 wpm
Comprehensive general clerical skills
Computer literacy required
Medical terminology preferred

Responsibilities

Maintains pre-registration a minimum of two weeks ahead of scheduled procedure date.
Verifies coverage eligibility and benefits for medical insurance through employer or organization.
Documents all insurance information completely and neatly on face sheets, specifying any per diem and/or pre existing conditions and any other pertinent information.
Notifies case management of admit for authorization and concurrent review for medical justification of hospitalization on a daily basis.
