About The Position
An Insurance Specialist interviews patients and families to confirm insurance coverage, obtain benefit information, and secure pre-certification. The role refers patients with less than 100% coverage to financial assistance services, assists patients with medical coverage, and performs scheduling and administrative duties as needed.
Requirements
- Two years of insurance verification or registration experience in a hospital or physician office.
- Knowledge of medical insurance and billing requirements.
- Proficiency in Flowcast, HQ, eCAOS, MISYS, and Spheris.
- Ability to organize and take independent action.
- Ability to project Cooper values to customers and co-workers.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of state and federal medical assistance and health services programs.
- Experience in cardiology scheduling and front desk work.
- Basic knowledge of hospital and physician coding.
- Bilingual ability.
