About The Position

The purpose of this role is to make, maintain and strengthen relationships with Sun Life Financial Distribution advisors in the Canadian Mandarin speaking market nationally so that the insurance needs of the Client are satisfied. The Insurance Sales Director is responsible for executing a tactical business plan to achieve their regional sales targets with a focus on increasing the number of advisor relationships through presentations and seminars, face to face and virtual meetings, and advanced case consultation. Insurance Sales Directors share in Sun Life’s values and believe in growth to achieve goals. They help support market share growth and increased sales by executing on strategies to increase advisor penetration across a variety of insurance and health products.

Requirements

  • Fluency in Mandarin and English required
  • Expert life and health product knowledge
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and the competitive marketplace
  • Advanced understanding of insurance life and health sales strategies
  • University degree or business equivalent experience
  • 5 years financial services experience, preferably in a sales role
  • Strong understanding of case design methodology
  • Ability to develop expert understanding of software used by Sun Life to facilitate the sales process including illustrations, financial planning software and proprietary concepts
  • Understanding of tax and estate planning
  • Understanding of underwriting requirements and procedures
  • Strong results orientation
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Highly developed priority management skills
  • Attained or working towards Professional Financial Planner (PFP/Fin. Pl.), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU/AVA), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC)
  • Life and Health Insurance License

Responsibilities

  • Develop a tactical business plan to achieve sales targets for life and health insurance products
  • Build relationships with existing advisors and provide solutions to address Client needs
  • Advanced/large case consultation with advisors help advisors develop the skills necessary to have sustained success in the business owner/high net worth markets
  • Proactively promote Sun Life’s value proposition to advisors by delivering in person and virtual presentations, and attending firm events
  • Provide superior service to advisors and firm
  • Maintain a current understanding of local markets and competitive intelligence
  • Ensure all business development activities are conducted within approved Sun Life policies, procedures and guidelines, and in compliance with all external regulations
  • Collaborate with Assistant Vice President to execute strategy and tactics
