About The Position

American Modern is offering 2027 Insurance, Product and Risk Management Internship Opportunities. This program is designed for interns to contribute to real projects, collaborate with experienced professionals, connect with senior leaders, and develop skills for their post-graduation careers. American Modern is a leading specialty insurance provider protecting manufactured homes, specialty dwellings, boats, personal watercraft, and classic cars. The company is headquartered in Amelia, Ohio, and offers a flexible hybrid work environment where interns typically spend 40-50% of their time in the office.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Insurance, Integrated Risk Management, Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, or a related field.
Rising Junior or Senior at the time of the internship.
Available to work full-time, 40 hours per week, for the duration of the summer internship program.
Able to work in a hybrid environment, including approximately 40 to 50% of the time in our Amelia, Ohio office.
Reliable transportation to commute to the office as required.
Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
An eagerness to learn, take initiative, ask thoughtful questions, and contribute to meaningful projects.

Responsibilities

Research underwriting processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
Analyze operational outputs and business data.
Enter and maintain underwriting system information.
Assist with reporting and trend analysis.
Support research projects involving sales partner performance, claims drivers, and risk mitigation.
Support rate-plan filings and research initiatives.
Analyze information that supports profitability and market decisions.
Contribute to projects focused on product performance and growth opportunities.
Develop business-ready presentations and summaries.
Support underwriting strategy initiatives.
Help coordinate program manual updates.
Analyze performance data and business trends.
Explore growth opportunities and profitability challenges.
Present recommendations and findings to leaders.
Support active product initiatives.
Assist with rating structures within Earnix.
Research operational issues and document findings.
Support enablement leaders with project work and analysis.
Update training curriculum and templates.
Improve process documentation.
Create learning materials and assessments.
Organize information for long-term usability and consistency.
Support invoice processing and vendor administration.
Monitor transaction and usage reporting.
Assist with contract-related activity.
Compare spending against budget information.
Maintain accurate vendor documentation and records.
