About The Position

The Insurance Officer is a field-based sales professional responsible for growing the Association’s crop insurance portfolio by serving as a trusted advisor to large and complex farming operations. This role develops deep knowledge of producer operations and risk exposures, builds long-term relationships, and delivers tailored crop insurance solutions that support customers’ financial resilience and long-term success. Insurance Officers spend most of their time in the field prospecting new customers, strengthening existing relationships, and partnering with Farm Credit Mid-America teams and agricultural influencers to expand crop insurance penetration. The role operates in full compliance with applicable insurance laws, regulations, and company policies while representing the Association with professionalism and integrity. The Insurance Officer applies solid functional knowledge and sound judgment to deliver dependable, high-quality work with minimal direction. Team members at this level manage moderately complex responsibilities, balance priorities effectively, and contribute meaningful insights that support team and functional performance. They are trusted to navigate varied situations, identify improvement opportunities, and operate with increasing autonomy.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED with 7 years relevant experience required.
  • Valid driver's license

  • Bachelor's Degree with 3 years relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Grows crop insurance market share through proactive prospecting, disciplined follow up, and consistent engagement with existing and prospective customers.
  • Serves as the primary crop insurance advisor for assigned producers, positioning the Association as a long-term risk management partner.
  • Leverages technology, CRM tools, and digital platforms to manage pipelines, document interactions, and ensure timely communication and service.
  • Supports the customer experience by completing processing work accurately and efficiently while maintaining a high level of professionalism and responsiveness.
  • Manages assigned work with minimal direction delivering a high degree of accuracy, quality and timely completion.
  • Applies functional knowledge and judgment to evaluate information and make informed decisions.
  • Anticipates needs, manages competing priorities, and proactively communicates status or risks.
  • Supports process improvements by identifying gaps and recommending practical solutions.
  • Collaborates effectively across teams to advance shared goals and business outcomes.
  • Serves as a resource to less experienced team members through informal guidance.
