Insurance Defense, Warranty & Professional Liability Attorney
About The Position
These opportunities are focused on insurance defense, warranty litigation, professional liability, commercial insurance disputes, civil litigation, motion practice, depositions, trial preparation, and client/carrier communication. Candidates must have litigation experience in insurance defense, warranty, civil litigation, professional liability, or related disputes, be admitted or eligible in the applicable jurisdiction, be comfortable handling discovery, motions, depositions, and case strategy, have strong writing and client communication skills, and be interested in defense-side litigation work. These roles are not suitable for transactional-only attorneys, candidates with no civil litigation experience, plaintiff-only attorneys unwilling to handle defense-side practice, or attorneys who do not want carrier or institutional client work. We are speaking with attorneys and legal professionals for select opportunities involving insurance defense, warranty litigation, professional liability, commercial insurance disputes, civil litigation, motion practice, depositions, trial preparation, and client/carrier communication. These roles are grouped because the same candidate audience could reasonably match more than one opening in this tile.
Requirements
- Litigation experience in insurance defense, warranty, civil litigation, professional liability, or related disputes
- Admitted or eligible in the applicable jurisdiction
- Comfortable handling discovery, motions, depositions, and case strategy
- Strong writing and client communication skills
- Interested in defense-side litigation work
- 2-6 years insurance defense or PI litigation experience (for Houston role)
- 5+ years litigation experience (for California Warranty role)
- Extensive trial/arbitration experience including openings, closings, witness examinations, motion practice, depositions, mediation, advocacy, research, writing, and negotiation (for California Warranty role)
- Active California bar (for Los Angeles role)
- 4+ years litigation experience (for Los Angeles role)
- 1-20 years post-bar civil litigation experience (for Encino role)
- Defense-side civil litigation including professional liability, insurance coverage, business litigation, employment defense, real estate litigation, and construction defect (for Encino role)

Responsibilities
- Handle discovery, motions, depositions, and case strategy
- Manage an independent docket
- Conduct fact, expert, and corporate representative depositions
- Handle oral arguments
- Manage high-exposure $1M+ policy-limit cases
- Maintain strict billing discipline
- Defend automobile manufacturers, distributors, and dealers in warranty actions
- Handle national insurer disputes
- Manage multi-jurisdictional insurance disputes
- Independent matter ownership
- Handle pleadings, discovery, motions, depositions, mediation, arbitration, trial prep
- Defense of attorneys, accountants, fiduciaries, D&O, and brokers
