Insurance Coverage/Insurance Litigation Associate
About The Position
Wilson Elser's Denver office is currently seeking an Insurance Coverage/Insurance Litigation Associate to join a team of talented professionals in a collaborative, collegial environment. This is an excellent opportunity for lawyers with experience handling insurance coverage/coverage litigation matters to work with a collaborative group of experience coverage/coverage litigation attorneys who handle cases in Colorado and throughout the US, working with domestic and foreign insurers.
Requirements
- JD from an ABA accredited law school
- Admitted to practice in the state of Colorado
- At least 3 years of defense litigation
- 1+ years of coverage/coverage litigation experience
- Experience in areas of insurance coverage including drafting coverage opinions in one or more insurance lines (CGL, property, professional liability, cyber, intellectual property, etc.)
- Experience in either or both third-party or first-party claims
- Coverage analysis and writing experience
- Experience drafting discovery and pretrial motions required
- Superior analytical skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
Nice To Haves
- Experience cross-examining plaintiffs and other fact witnesses preferred
- Experience handling court appearances, depositions, and trial experience a plus
- Trial experience a plus
Responsibilities
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, and other legal documents
- Attend court hearings, depositions, and mediations
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments and offices, contributing to a cohesive and supportive team environment
- Investigate claims and draft coverage opinion letters
- In coverage litigation matters, draft pleadings, motions, and handle discovery
- Provide clients with insurance coverage advice on a variety of subjects
- Communicate with clients and provide status reports
