The Insurance Coordinator role is a desk job that primarily involves sitting, standing, stooping, and walking, as well as an inordinate amount of telephone communication. The position can be stressful in terms of meeting deadlines.

Requirements

• Ability to work well under pressure and meet regulatory deadlines and deliver effective results
• Excellent computer and phone skills
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)

Nice To Haves

• Two years of home healthcare experience or basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred

Responsibilities

• Obtain authorization for home health care services for new patients when insurance requires authorization for services
• Tracks insurance authorizations
• Adds/edits all patient insurance information
• Ensures that collection of all Managed Care and third party claims are followed up in accordance with department policies, procedures, and performance goals
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
