Requirements

  • One year of experience as an Insurance Company Examiner Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • One year of professional experience in the audit or examination of the financial conditions and operations of insurance companies and a bachelor’s degree that includes 6 college credits in accounting, 3 college credits in finance or economics, and 3 college credits in business law
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 6 college credits in accounting, 3 college credits in finance or economics, and 3 college credits in business law
  • Meet the PA residency requirement
  • Able to perform essential job functions

Responsibilities

  • Assist in reviewing insurer records, documents, and financial statements during risk focused examinations
  • Check company practices to ensure they follow Pennsylvania insurance laws and industry standards
  • Research regulatory filings and speak with staff and company personnel to understand operations
  • Prepare examination work papers that clearly document findings and work performed
  • Help identify solvency risks and evaluate controls or mitigation strategies used by the insurer
  • Share examination findings with the examiner-in-charge, management, and insurer through reports and discussions
