About The Position

YSS is looking for a detail-loving organizer, a natural connector, and a steady problem-solver to join our team as an Insurance Billing Specialist—someone who can keep our revenue cycle running smoothly while delivering a seamless, positive experience for clients and staff alike. In this role, acting as the bridge between YSS, our clients, and our third-party partner—making sure billing, coding, insurance verification, and documentation are handled accurately, efficiently, and with care. You’ll also be a trusted resource for our clinical and intake teams, offering guidance, training, and support to reduce billing issues and improve reimbursement outcomes. Reporting to the Director of Outpatient Operations, you’ll collaborate closely with both our Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) and Welcome Teams to keep everything aligned and moving forward.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in insurance billing, coding, or revenue cycle management, ideally in behavioral health or healthcare.
  • Solid knowledge of insurance verification, prior authorizations, and billing regulations, including Medicaid and commercial plans.
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and experience handling sensitive health and financial information confidentially.
  • Proficiency with EMRs (preferably CareLogic) and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Keep billing operations running smoothly by coordinating with our third-party billing partner
  • Partner with Intake, Scheduling, and Clinical teams to identify and resolve billing delays
  • Verify insurance benefits and provide clear, upfront cost estimates for clients
  • Accurately enter insurance details, authorizations, and demographics in CareLogic
  • Maintain up-to-date client records, including managing returned mail
  • Connect with clients regarding balances and payment plans, and support daily balance/copay updates
  • Track and share insights on denials, receivables, and collection trends
  • Communicate billing and coding updates and escalate complex claim issues as needed
  • Assist clients with Sliding Fee Scale (SFS) applications and ensure compliance
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to strengthen revenue and cash flow
  • Serve as a go-to resource for billing questions and EMR support
  • Update billing and intake procedures to reflect best practices
  • Prepare reports and summaries to support informed decision-making
