Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in life insurance, underwriting, or a related field, or a strong consumer‑level understanding of life insurance concepts
  • Beginner, intermediate, or advanced English proficiency, as the role involves communicating with internal teams and agents regularly
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to support or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time, including H-1B visas and participation in STEM OPT work authorizations.

Nice To Haves

  • Solid understanding of company products, plans, and applications
  • Working knowledge of MIB codes and common medications
  • Typing speed of 35 WPM with 90% accuracy
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and the ability to learn internal systems quickly
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to perform under pressure
  • Willingness to work overtime as business needs require

Responsibilities

  • Serving as a quality checkpoint, reviewing all new business applications for accuracy and completeness
  • Reviewing final expense and simplified issue applications to render decisions on insurability, including approvals, declinations, and plan changes within stated guidelines
  • Exercising an authorized approval limit of $300,000
  • Conducting research such as MVR checks, criminal record searches, and vendor database reviews to validate applicant information
  • Identifying concerns with agent business practices and escalating when appropriate
  • Determining required underwriting documentation and preparing correspondence to agents
  • Entering accurate, detailed case notes to ensure transparency of actions taken and next steps
  • Conducting business ethically, in compliance with laws, regulations, and company standards
