About The Position

MercyOne Dyersville Medical Center is seeking an Insurance Advisor to join their team. This role, under the general direction of the Clinic Manager, serves as an assistant to physicians and support staff, providing clerical and secretarial support. The Insurance Advisor is responsible for obtaining and documenting pre-certification of insurance requests for clinic services and procedures, as well as obtaining authorizations for referrals. This position involves interfacing with physicians, Genesis Health Group departments, and insurance organizations regarding pre-certification issues, and initiating and following up on appeals for denied payments. The goal is to ensure high patient and customer satisfaction and meet the needs of physicians, patients, and Genesis Health Group regarding the pre-certification process. The Insurance Advisor will also serve as the primary contact for clinical physicians, the physician's billing office, and Genesis Health Group support departments.

Requirements

2 year college program or equivalent experience
Finance, Business, or related field
Word processing and other Windows-based computer applications
Experience in billing
Insurance verification
Customer service
Front desk registration

Responsibilities

Obtaining and documenting pre-certification of pre-authorized insurance requests for Clinic services and procedures.
Obtaining authorizations, when required, for referrals for other services.
Interfacing between physicians, Genesis Health Group departments, and insurance organizations regarding precertification issues.
Initiating and following up on appeals for denied payments.
Ensuring that all activities achieve high patient and customer satisfaction and that pre-certification process meets physician, patient, and Genesis Health Group needs.
Serving as primary contact for clinical physicians, physician's billing office, and Genesis Health Group support departments.
