About The Position

The Insulator role involves performing various insulation activities, including the installation and removal of insulation and exterior jacketing. This includes measuring, cutting, fabricating, fitting, and securing insulating materials and metal coverings according to specifications. The position requires attention to detail in ensuring quality workmanship and examining finished work for conformance. Additionally, the role involves participating in pre-job and safety meetings, assisting with job load-outs, and maintaining tools and equipment. The Insulator may also be called upon to assist other departments as a rigger or helper and is responsible for maintaining good housekeeping in work and living areas.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license.
Valid TWIC card.
THUET certified.
Dependable transportation and phone (home or cell).
Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
Must be willing and able to work a 12-16 hour shift per day for the duration of a 14/7 offshore schedule.
Must be able to work without cell phone and/or internet communication with friends and family during normal working hours.
Must be able to work without tobacco interruptions until scheduled breaks and lunch times.
Must be able to work from scaffolding.
Must be able to wear a dust mask and/or respirator.
Must be able to lift objects weighting up to 100 pounds, able to stand, climb, sit, squat, stretch, bend over and/or walk for long periods of time.
Must be able to commute offshore via boat and/or helicopter.
Must be clean shaven and exhibit good personal hygiene.
Have the ability, desire and attitude to work as a team member.
Must be able to read blueprints, sketches, or building plans.
Be familiar and in compliance with company policies, safety practices, processes & procedures.
Must have a clear understanding of how to navigate and decipher the contents of an MSDS book.
Adapt to sudden changes concerning project work scopes, while under pressure, provoked by time-constraints and/or inclement weather.
Operational knowledge of, and the ability to trouble-shoot, all blasting and painting tools and equipment.
Interpersonal skills to cooperate and communicate effectively with others on the job.

Nice To Haves

Minimum of two (2) years of insulation and metal experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform insulation activities as directed by superintendent.
Perform all installation and removal of insulation and exterior jacketing/protection
Measure, mark, and cut required insulation materials to required specifications.
Fabricate, fit, and/or shape insulating material and metal covering around equipment for protection.
Provide quality workmanship according to specifications
Secure insulation with banding, wire, straps etc in accordance with requirements
Attend and participate in pre-job meetings.
Attend and participate in safety meetings.
Assist in job load-outs.
Performing maintenance and repairs on personal and company owned tools and equipment.
Assisting other departments as a rigger and/or helper when needed and/or as directed.
Maintain good housekeeping in the work area as well the living quarters and bathing facilities.
Examine finished work to ensure conformance to specifications
