About The Position

Austin Industrial is hiring an Insulator to apply, remove, and repair insulating material on exposed surfaces and structures—including air ducts, hot or cold pipes, storage tanks, boilers, and buildings—to help control noise and maintain temperatures. The role includes reading blueprints, selecting and preparing insulation, fitting it to structures, and securing or sealing it. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

3–5 years of journeyman-level experience.
Legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States; the company is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position.

Responsibilities

Read blueprints and select the required insulation material.
Work at heights.
Apply adhesives to insulation or attach metal adhesive applications to insulation material.
Determine quantities and select insulation materials in sheet, tubular, or roll form based on their heat-retention properties, location, surface, shape, and equipment use. Materials may include fiberglass, foam rubber, Styrofoam, cork, and urethane.
Measure and cut insulation to the specified size and shape using a tape measure or other measuring device and tools such as a handsaw, knife, or scissors.
Fit, wrap, or attach insulation to structures according to blueprint specifications.
Cover or seal insulation with preformed plastic covers, canvas strips, sealant, or tape, using tools such as a staple gun, trowel, paintbrush, or caulking gun.
Perform other duties as assigned.
