About The Position

This role involves performing complex insulation tasks on industrial equipment, pipes, ductwork, and mechanical systems. The Insulator will be responsible for applying, removing, and repairing various types of insulation, including cryogenic materials and cementitious fireproofing. Key duties include fabricating, fitting, and wrapping insulation according to design drawings and specifications, as well as preparing surfaces and mixing materials.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate with the insulation team and others.
  • Proficiency in applying, removing, and repairing complex insulation.
  • Experience with cryogenic insulation materials (e.g., aerogel, cellular glass).
  • Skill in covering, sealing, or finishing insulated surfaces.
  • Ability to apply adhesives and attach metal adhesive applications.
  • Capability to fabricate, fit, wrap, and apply insulation according to drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret craft-related isometric drawings.
  • Skill in measuring and cutting insulation materials.
  • Experience with applying, removing, and repairing cementitious fireproofing materials.
  • Ability to mix and transport cementitious fireproofing materials.
  • Experience with prep work including surface preparation, cleaning, formwork placement, and metal lath installation.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with insulation team and others to perform job tasks.
  • Applies, removes, and repairs complex insulation on industrial equipment, pipes, ductwork, or other mechanical systems such as heat exchangers, tanks, and vessels.
  • Installs cryogenic insulation materials such as aerogel or cellular glass.
  • Covers, seals, or finishes insulated surfaces with mastics, vapor stops, or sealants.
  • Applies adhesives on or attaches metal adhesive application to insulation material.
  • Fabricates, fits or wraps and applies insulation following design drawings, isometrics, or project specifications.
  • Reads and interprets craft related isometric drawings and selects required insulation material.
  • Measures and cuts insulation, using tape measures, knives, and scissors or other measuring devices.
  • Applies, removes, and repairs cementitious fireproofing materials on industrial equipment, pipes, ductwork, or other mechanical systems such as heat exchangers, tanks, and vessels.
  • Mix and transport cementitious fireproofing materials.
  • Completes prep work including surface preparation, cleaning, formwork placement, and metal lath installation.
