About The Position

This role involves assisting an insulation team in various capacities, from complex and specialized insulation tasks to material handling and site preparation. The specific duties can vary depending on the helper level (A, B, or C), with Helper A focusing on advanced insulation techniques and materials, Helper B on basic insulation applications, and Helper C on logistical support, safety, and material preparation.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate with the insulation team and others to perform job tasks.
  • Ability to apply, remove, and repair insulation on industrial equipment, pipes, ductwork, or other mechanical systems.
  • Ability to install various types of insulation materials (cryogenic, hot, personnel protection).
  • Ability to fabricate, fit, wrap, and apply insulation following design drawings and project specifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret isometric piping drawings.
  • Ability to measure and cut insulation using tape measures, knives, and scissors or other measuring devices.
  • Ability to participate in daily pre-job briefings and safety discussions.
  • Ability to transport and stage material in the work area.
  • Ability to perform housekeeping duties.
  • Ability to perform material handling activities.
  • Ability to perform equipment spotter and flagger duties.
  • Ability to act as a confined space attendant or fire watch.
  • Ability to fabricate insulation accessories under supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with insulation team and others to perform job tasks.
  • Applies, removes, and repairs complex insulation on industrial equipment, pipes, ductwork, or other mechanical systems such as heat exchangers, tanks, and vessels.
  • Installs cryogenic insulation materials such as aerogel or cellular glass.
  • Covers, seals, or finishes insulated surfaces with vapor stops and sealants.
  • Fabricates, fits, or wraps and applies insulation following design drawings and project specifications.
  • Reads and interprets isometric piping drawings and selects required insulation material.
  • Measures and cuts insulation, using tape measures, knives, and scissors or other measuring devices.
  • Applies, removes, and repairs basic insulation on industrial equipment, pipes, ductwork, or other mechanical systems such as heat exchangers, tanks, and vessels.
  • Installs hot and personnel protection insulation materials such as mineral wool or fiberglass.
  • Participates in daily pre-job briefings and safety discussions.
  • Transports and stages material in the immediate work area for crew to install.
  • Performs housekeeping duties as directed by supervisor.
  • Performs material handling activities and housekeeping at platforms or scaffolding.
  • Performs equipment spotter and flagger duties.
  • Acts as confined space attendant or fire watch.
  • Fabricates insulation accessories under the supervision of the Shop Foreman.
