We are hiring an Instrumentation Technician to work in Dearborn, MI. This is a position for those with some knowledge and experience in automotive, either on the job or as a hobby. The Instrumentation Technician will be working in a unique lab that provides air flow, vibe, and fuel system testing in Dearborn. This facility applies numerous testing methods and data acquisition software to support and conduct a variety of Engine Component, Powertrain, Fuel System, and Durability Tests.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Basic background in engine electronics troubleshooting
  • Kulite pressure transducer exp
  • Thermocouple soldering exp
  • knowledge of Vishay AMPs
  • accelerometer exp
  • strain gage
  • ability to read schematics/wiring diagrams a must.
  • Understanding how DMM’s, O-Scopes, and other electronic testing devices are used.
  • Good interpersonal, computer, oral and written skill.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree or equivalent in automotive technology or electronic related field.
  • Experience in engines/powertrain dynamometer testing or other similar testing techniques preferred.
  • Understanding of instrumentation used in an automotive test environment, such as pressure transducers, thermocouples, accelerometers, etc. are highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Installation, troubleshooting, and repair of Special test components (accelerometers, transducers, strain gages, Vishay AMPs, thermocouple soldering).
  • Building electrical cables, repairing electrical connectors, and modifying electrical breakout boxes.
  • Calibrating and maintaining testing instrumentation.
  • Interface with Technologists, Product Engineers, and Supervisors on updates/new test procedures, equipment and methods.
  • Verify the calibration and maintenance of test equipment and test systems.
  • Hook up instrumentation, diagnose / troubleshoot problems, conduct tests, change out components if necessary, and remove instrumentation as needed.
