About The Position

IMMI is seeking a qualified and highly motivated individual to fill the role of Instrumentation Technician. The Instrumentation Technician supports IMMI's CAPE testing operations by managing, calibrating, maintaining, repairing, and documenting anthropomorphic test devices (ATDs), electronic instrumentation systems, data acquisition equipment, and photographic systems used in crash testing and product validation activities. This position plays a critical role in ensuring data accuracy, equipment reliability, and compliance with the CAPE Quality Management System. The Instrumentation Technician works closely with the CAPE Director of Operations to coordinate schedules, prioritize workloads, and maintain equipment readiness. The role partners with Engineering, Fabrication Technicians, and Test Technicians to support both internal and external customer testing programs.

Responsibilities

Perform all tasks related to electronic instrumentation and control systems, ensuring proper operation, calibration, repair, and documentation.
Utilization, calibration, maintenance, and repair of instrumentation (rotary/linear pots, load cells, accelerometers, strain gauges, string pots).
Electrical design and development (circuitry, programming, system integration).
Software programming and data analysis (DIAdem, C+, Visual Basic, RMC Tools, Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB, SolidWorks).
Connector and cable work (Fischer, LEMO, Amphenol; cable/wire repair; panel building/repair).
Support electronic control systems and instrumentation integration.
Build and repair instrumentation panels, cables, and connectors.
Data acquisition and processing (Messring MBUS, DTS, PLC, data conversion, filtering).
Calibration and maintenance of ATDs (test dummies), biomechanical systems, transducers, and data acquisition systems.
Photographic instrumentation (high-speed cameras, lighting systems, video/photometric calibration).
Accessory systems (electronic brake abort, LED lighting, communication radios, overhead lighting).
Instrumentation lab activities (soldering, DMM, oscilloscope, power supply, signal generator).
Manage and document all calibration activities (internal and external), ensuring compliance with required tolerances.
Develop, manage, and maintain CAPE instrumentation management systems, databases, and software files.
Provide technical expertise in electrical engineering, instrumentation design, software development, and system troubleshooting.
Conduct tests at CAPE test centers, ensuring customers receive accurate data, photographs, and video documentation.
Review and verify calibration certificates for accuracy and compliance.
Provide training and technical support to CAPE staff on instrumentation, ATDs, and testing processes.
Monitor and communicate issues affecting safety, equipment functionality, data quality, or project timelines.
Support continuous improvement by staying current with technology and industry testing standards.
Maintain confidentiality of customer information and ensure all records and communications are professional.
Promote collaboration and a positive, solutions-focused environment with CAPE personnel and customers.
Perform housekeeping and 5S functions to maintain a safe, organized workspace.
Represent IMMI professionally with customers, industry partners, and government entities.
Adhere to IMMI/CAPE safety, quality, conduct, and policy requirements, including authority limitations.
