About The Position

Join Abbott's Nutrition Manufacturing team as an Instrumentation Technician on the Night Shift. This role is crucial for maintaining advanced equipment and systems that ensure the smooth operation of our production lines. You will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial equipment, power systems, lighting, control systems, and PLC logic. This includes working with electrical power (24V–600V), automation controllers, VFDs, sensors, and inspection devices. You will also perform preventive maintenance, use various diagnostic tools, lead and train team members, support plant operations, respond to emergencies, and participate in electrical upgrades. Maintaining compliance with FDA, OSHA, and company policies, as well as staying current with technology, are key aspects of this role.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Knowledge of electricity, electrical theory, PLCs, and pneumatic systems
  • Ability to work safely in electrical panels up to 480 volts
  • Proficiency in reading schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation skills
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial equipment, power systems, lighting, control systems, and PLC logic for production processes.
  • Work with electrical power (24V–600V), automation controllers, VFDs, sensors, and inspection devices.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical equipment and instruments.
  • Use tools and instruments such as voltage testers, ammeters, oscilloscopes, vibration analyzers, and laser measurement equipment.
  • Lead and train team members; document and communicate shift activities clearly.
  • Support plant operations across packaging, processing, filling, warehouse, and facilities.
  • Respond to equipment emergencies, troubleshoot I/O systems, and communicate with production teams to minimize downtime.
  • Participate in electrical upgrades and monitor contractor work.
  • Maintain compliance with FDA, OSHA, and company policies.
  • Stay current with advancing technology through training and vendor programs.
