About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Journeyman level Instrumentation Technician to plan and execute complex equipment maintenance. We are screening for candidates who have worked in a heavy industrial setting and have familiarity with a wide variety of instrumentation. Install, start-up, test, inspect, repair, program, tune, maintain and calibrate equipment related to pulp and paper mill operations in a heavy industrial environment including: analog and digital field devices such as pressure, level, temperature, pH instruments, hydraulic and pneumatic operations, motor controls, PLC, valves, actuators, robotics, communication and other related equipment. Tasks also include working with other Maintenance and Operations personnel to troubleshoot and repair process related challenges.

Requirements

  • 2 year degree in Electrical or Instrument Technology or equivalent technical experience or apprenticeship required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong math skills essential.
  • Ability to safely perform essential functions of this job including work in industrial/manufacturing environment (climbing ladders, walking distances, working at heights on platforms, work in tight or close spaces, etc.)
  • Strong diagnostic skills and willingness to learn new equipment as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and engineering and electrical code specifications as well as read and interpret technical manuals.
  • Experienced in using industrial hand tools, power tools and common test equipment; good manual dexterity.
  • Familiarity with National Electric Code.
  • Understand, analyze and troubleshoot PLC control logic; troubleshoot and repair AC and DC drive systems.
  • Understand common types of electronic sensors for position, flow and pressure.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Allen Bradley, GE and ABB preferred.
