About The Position

The Ozone Instrumentation Technician supervises the maintenance and calibration of all NTMWD flow meters in the Water and Wastewater systems. Additionally, the Ozone Instrumentation Technician position performs routine instrumentation troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and repair duties requiring an in-depth knowledge of industrial electrical/electronic theory. Must also be knowledgeable of instrumentation equipment related to water and wastewater treatment and production equipment which may include: flow meters, analyzers, PLC’s SCADA systems, ozone generators, chemical equipment, air compressors, valve actuators, motors, variable frequency drives, and various other equipment. Individual is expected to identify instrumentation issues, troubleshoot and remedy problems using independent judgment. Must have a thorough knowledge of all types of meters used for flow measurement and level recording.

Requirements

  • Minimum three years of experience in process control and/or measurement systems in industrial or utility environment.
  • Requires a valid Texas Driver’s License.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must a working knowledge of all types of flow meters and level devices.
  • Must possess knowledge of computers, software, and hardware.
  • Must be proficient in the use of the District Computerized Maintenance Management System
  • Must be able to read and understand technical manuals, blue prints, schematics, one-line diagrams and drawings.
  • Must have the ability to comprehend, carry out and administer written and oral instruction.
  • Employees required to drive as part of their job duties are responsible for maintaining a current, valid, and vehicle - appropriate driver's license of their resident state.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Electrical Apprentice or Journeyman from State of Texas is preferred.
  • Obtain certification(s) from meter manufacturer(s).

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the calibration of all flow metering equipment in the water and wastewater systems. There is approximately 500 meters that must be calibrated on a quarterly or annual basis. This information is used to bill our member cities and customer based actual flow.
  • Communicate with city staff with assure to verify meter accuracy.
  • Records calibration of meters in District Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Verifies that new meter installation meet meter manufacturer requirement for accurate flow measurement.
  • Observes safe work practices through proper use of safety equipment and procedures including permit required confined space entry and lock out tag out.
  • Responsible for ensuring subordinate employees observe safe work practices at all times.
  • Responsible for ensuring subordinate employees receive required trainings.
  • Assist subordinate employees with troubleshooting and repairing of instrumentation equipment.
  • Attends plant inspections with TCEQ to provide required meter calibration records.
  • Personnel assigned to a shift work location will be required to participate in a regular twelve-hour shift schedule and must be able to work overtime when needed.
  • Personnel NOT assigned to a shift work location will be required to be on a rotational “ONCALL” status to respond to NTMWD repairs outside of normal business hours must be able to work overtime when needed.
  • May train assistants and new hires in safe work methods and troubleshooting of Ozone specific equipment.
  • Must remain current on and attend all required trainings.
  • Must practice safe work practices at all times.
