About The Position

The Instrumentation Supervisor – Electrical provides leadership and oversight for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical instrumentation and control systems within an industrial environment. This role ensures systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable standards and company policies. The Supervisor coordinates cross-functional project activities, manages resources, and leads a team of technicians to maintain high performance, minimize downtime, and support overall operational objectives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in industrial electrical and instrumentation environments, including demonstrated leadership as a Lead Instrument Technician in heavy industrial or manufacturing settings.
  • Proven hands-on experience supervising field crews in the installation, calibration, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of instrumentation and control systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop drawings, wiring schematics, control panel drawings, one-lines, and project specifications with minimal oversight.
  • Strong working knowledge of PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems, including field integration and startup support.
  • Extensive experience with control valves, transmitters, analyzers, sensors, tubing systems, impulse lines, and industrial process control equipment.
  • Working knowledge of low- and high-pressure tubing and piping systems, including proper installation, testing, and inspection practices.
  • Strong understanding of ISA, NEC, NFPA, and OSHA standards with the ability to enforce safety and quality compliance in the field.
  • NCCER Instrument Technician Certification required.
  • TDLR license is required.
  • Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical instrumentation and industrial control systems, including PLC, DCS, and SCADA platforms, as well as associated field devices and process control equipment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of instrumentation lifecycle management, including system design support, installation oversight, commissioning, maintenance strategies, and performance optimization.
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable industry standards, codes, and regulatory requirements (ISA, NEC, NFPA, OSHA, EPA) to ensure operational compliance and safety.
  • In-depth understanding of industrial process control principles and system integration within complex manufacturing or heavy industrial environments.
  • Knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance practices and continuous improvement methodologies to reduce downtime and enhance asset performance.
  • Familiarity with project management principles, budgeting, resource planning, and the use of CMMS and other operational management systems.
  • Understanding industrial piping and instrumentation systems sufficient to provide technical oversight and ensure adherence to engineering specifications.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership and the ability to mentor and develop high-performing technical teams.
  • Exercises sound judgment and decisive problem-solving in complex operational environments.
  • Communicates effectively across all organizational levels and fosters cross-functional collaboration.
  • Maintains a strong commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and quality standards.
  • Exhibits accountability, professionalism, and integrity in all aspects of work.
  • Effectively prioritizes tasks, manages resources, and adapts to changing project demands.
  • Promotes continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Norrell Construction is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
  • College-level instrumentation courses preferred.
