About The Position

The Instrumentation Product Specialist helps optimize ABB’s Instrumentation product portfolio by applying technical expertise, market insights, and customer knowledge. Working across Product Management, Sales, Engineering, and other functions, the role identifies growth opportunities, improves product performance, and supports offering strategy and profitability. The position is part of ABB’s Flow Computer and RTU organization, which provides automation, measurement, and control solutions for the upstream oil and gas sector. This is a hybrid role based at ABB’s Bartlesville, Oklahoma factory. Candidates should live within commuting distance and expect to work onsite two to three days per week, with greater onsite presence during the initial period. Travel of up to 25% may be required for customer support.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
At least 10 years of relevant professional experience in instrumentation, product management, applications engineering, technical sales, or a related field.
Advanced knowledge of instrumentation products, applications, technical specifications, and relevant industry standards.
Ability to analyze market and customer needs, evaluate product performance, and develop recommendations for complex business or technical challenges.
Ability to troubleshoot product or application issues, communicate technical information clearly, and coordinate solutions with customers and internal teams.
Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills, including the ability to independently manage complex assignments.
Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time as needed for customer support.
Work authorization permitting permanent employment with ABB in the United States.

Responsibilities

Analyze market trends, customer requirements, competitive offerings, and product profitability to identify opportunities for portfolio growth and differentiation.
Lead product and market analyses to identify portfolio gaps, evaluate emerging technologies, and turn customer and industry needs into product recommendations.
Manage technical product requirements for assigned Instrumentation offerings, ensuring specifications, configurations, and capabilities meet standards and customer expectations.
Recommend product roadmaps, new offerings, enhancements, cost reductions, and lifecycle investments.
Monitor warranty cases, quality cost drivers, and recurring technical issues; coordinate resolutions and improvement actions.
Support pricing, product positioning, sales initiatives, customer engagements, product launches, and technical training.
Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, R&D, and other functions to resolve complex issues and improve customer satisfaction.
