About The Position

Use an applied approach in performing moderate technological functions within laboratory. Design, develop, test, install and operates equipment and systems. Conduct applied research and experimental testing. Compile and analyze data and prepare reports. Receive, inspect, sort and label client samples. Troubleshoot and repair equipment or components. Calibrate and set up equipment prior to analysis. Maintain a clean working environment. Follow all company Health, Safety and Environmental policies. Follow all Quality system protocols and report any discrepancies to the Supervisor.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent) is required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a Laboratory environment is a required.
  • Working knowledge of ICP-MS and ICP-OES (Agilent preferred) is required
  • Good hand/eye coordination when handling samples & lab equipment
  • Must be comfortable with numerals in order to monitor data on a computer screen.
  • Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
  • Able to work well under pressure during high (peak) workloads and balancing conflicting demands of high volume versus the quality of results.
  • Candidates must be proficient in using various types of computer software (Word, Excel. PowerPoint & Outlook).
  • Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with others & independently.
  • Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Able to work a rotating schedule - days, afternoons & evenings.

Nice To Haves

  • A post-secondary education in a Science related program is preferred.
  • Strong track record of success in a production lab is preferred
  • Experience training junior technicians is preferred
