Instrumentation Engineer V
About The Position
Performs assignments, which require application of engineering education, training or experience and special knowledge or judgment of the mathematical, physical, or engineering sciences. Assignments are designed to further develop the incumbent’s job knowledge and abilities. Applies Engineering principles in discipline of competency. Demonstrates a continuing consciousness of safety in daily activities. Performs a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard design engineering techniques for a small project or selected segments of a larger project. Keeps supervisor informed of progress and coordinates with project management team to updates schedule/budget.
Requirements
- 14+ years of experience related to instrumentation and control systems.
- BS in Engineering (or higher) from ABET accredited Institution.
Nice To Haves
- Professional Engineering license or ability to obtain is preferred.
- Previous lead or checker experience.
Responsibilities
- Prepares basic to advanced specifications detailing performance requirements, specific components, design requirements, applicable design codes, and vendor drawing requirements.
- Prepares technical specifications for review and approval.
- Assists in the development of instrumentation design calculations and packages.
- Visits vendor facilities to inspect equipment for compliance with requirements.
- Visits jobsites to evaluate site, project requirements, and conditions.
- Prepares inquiry and purchase requisitions.
- Prepares bid tabulations on simple purchases.
- Reviews vendor drawings.
- Develops a focus on least cost, safe design.
- Supervises design personnel.
- Actively involved in maintaining the schedule and budget of assigned projects.
- Reviews/checks assignment completed by other engineers.
- Develop engineering manhour estimates for new projects.
- Creates project change orders.
- Meets company quality assurance requirements.
- Supports field assignments as required.
- Must be able to perform all the functions of the lower classifications.
