About The Position

The purpose of the position is to participate in the design, installation, fabrication, maintenance, and repair of electronic and controls equipment, and to perform other technical work as required. The position works within a general outline of work to be performed and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision.

Requirements

  • Requires Associate’s degree, vocational technical degree or specialized training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college education with emphasis in electronics technology, or a closely related field.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid SC Driver's License.
  • Must possess confined space entry certification and other safety certifications as deemed necessary.
  • Requires over one (1) year and up to and including two (2) years of experience.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, ModBus, Profibus, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Optional - Biological Wastewater Operator Level “D” license as issued by SC LLR.
  • May be required to obtain additional technical/safety certifications as deemed necessary by supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the design, fabrication, calibration, installation, maintenance and repair of agency instrumentation, electronics, controls equipment, and plant control systems (PCS).
  • Inspects, troubleshoots, calibrates, repairs, replaces and/or modifies measurement, data acquisition and control instrumentation, electronic equipment and computer systems used to monitor, record and control process variables, including pressure, flow, temperature, motion, levels, chemical composition, etc.; which will incorporate as needed in the design and fabrication of process equipment systems.
  • Designs, fabricates, programs, installs, troubleshoots, modifies, repairs, and monitors the operation of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and plant control systems (PCS) using handheld devices and/or desktop or laptop computers.
  • Inspects, troubleshoots, calibrates, repairs, replaces and/or modifies networking hardware such as Ethernet switches, Fiber Optic converters, Profibus Converters, etc.
  • Performs field and bench repair of instrumentation, equipment, and computer assemblies.
  • Ensures the timely resolution of equipment problems to minimize interruptions of service.
  • Inspects and monitors the installation of electrical / electronic instrumentation and associated equipment during facility upgrades by outside contractors.
  • Inspects all work in progress and at completion for compliance with applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and standards of quality and safety.
  • Specifies and orders materials and supplies needed for daily work.
  • Maintains accurate and complete maintenance records and prepares required reports; maintains equipment drawings / schematics; enters maintenance data into computerized maintenance management system.
  • Maintains safe, clean, and orderly work areas.
  • Assists in coordinating maintenance work with that of other divisions and departments as appropriate.
  • Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns, complaints, and requests for assistance in areas of responsibility.
  • Performs general clerical work as required, including but not limited to completing forms and reports, attending meetings, entering, and retrieving computer data, copying, and filing documents, answering the telephone, etc.
  • Attends meetings, training, etc., as appropriate to enhance job knowledge and skills.
  • Works on call as scheduled for emergency response.
  • Adheres to the Authority’s safety program and regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
