Instrumentation & Electrical Technician, Maintenance

Celanese International Corporation•Wilmington, NC
•Onsite

About The Position

Celanese Wilmington is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join the team. This role involves routine maintenance on instrumentation and electrical systems, understanding PM/PdM maintenance work processes, and utilizing SAP software for work orders, spare parts, and activity reporting. The technician will use calibration tools such as HART communicators, bench testing equipment, and 4-20 mA signal simulators. They will perform functional tests on Safety Instrumented Systems and Process Safety Interlocks according to international standards and engineering best practices, and complete calibration reports. The role also includes calibration and verification of process analyzers (Oxygen, pH, LEL, personal safety monitors), and understanding electrical principles for low voltage equipment. Troubleshooting and repair of instrumentation and electrical equipment during abnormal activities are key responsibilities, requiring knowledge of smart instrumentation (pressure, level, temperature, flow, analyzers, nuclear devices) and electrical devices (motors, VFDs, breakers, switchgear, safety devices). The technician will read and interpret various industrial drawings, including P&IDs, loop sheets, control schematics, and electrical control circuit diagrams. Experience with control process equipment like PLC, DCS, and standalone controllers is necessary for troubleshooting. The role also supports minor improvement projects, including installation and commissioning, and field calibration of instrumentation. Installation of instrument tubing and conduit is also part of the duties.
