About The Position

The Instrumentation and Electrical Technician II provides technical support to construction and field operations in the instrumentation, electrical and analyzer fields. This role involves troubleshooting equipment, maintaining control systems, and ensuring the proper functioning of various electrical and electronic components within the plant. The technician will work with advanced monitoring devices, read and update electrical diagrams, and perform preventative and general maintenance. This position may require occasional travel to remote sites and adherence to strict safety protocols.

Requirements

Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline related to the job.
Is familiar with AC voltage (120-480) three phase and single phase plus 24 VDC.
Must be able to use hand tools, power tools, and electronic diagnostic equipment.
Has operating knowledge in the operations and maintenance of sites systems.
Must be dependable and reliable, have good organizational skills and good customer service skills.
Familiar with plant processes, electrical layouts, safety systems, and area classifications.
Must have a current driver's license and clean driving record.
High school diploma or equivalent
3+ years of related experience in design, installation, operation, and maintenance of electronic, pneumatics and communications systems
Has experience with Allen Bradley display and control software and PLC equipment

Nice To Haves

Experienced with writing programs for DCS.
Computer skills including spreadsheet and word processing applications preferred.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoots problems with equipment.
Runs conduit, pulls wire, changes motors, and maintains lighting systems and basic motor controls.
Maintains and troubleshoots plant control systems and complex equipment, e.g., generators, heaters, etc.
Maintains, modifies and troubleshoots Distributive Control Systems (DCS) and/or Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) to maximize use of control technology and minimize installation and operating costs.
Maintains advanced monitoring devices (gas, flame/fire detectors, vibration and temperature monitors).
Reads P&ID and electrical diagrams and other complex electrical drawings; interprets plant electrical diagrams.
Updates electrical drawings.
Installs, troubleshoots and maintains end devices, alarms, shutdown systems, process controls, substation and branch feeders, variable frequency drives, air/fuel controllers, panel boards, etc.
Performs preventative and general maintenance on electronic and pneumatic equipment and parts associated with this equipment (which includes working near energized circuits over 440 volts).
Must stay updated on knowledge of plant processes, electrical layout, safety systems and area classifications.
May work independently under moderate supervision or with various groups to deal with issues that may arise.
Provides training and technical support as required.
General upkeep of facilities and equipment including engines/compressors, company vehicle and shop.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
