About The Position

Archrock is a premier provider of natural gas compression services to customers in the energy industry throughout the U.S. and a leading supplier of aftermarket services to customers who own compression equipment. This Instrumentation & Electrical Shop Technician Senior role involves maintaining a safe and organized work environment, performing major electrical repairs and installations, completing required documentation, and utilizing and developing on-the-job training for shop mechanic personnel, including entry and intermediate employees. The position also entails making changes to panel selection and wiring, diagnosing PLC panels, installing pneumatic tubing, fabricating components like bracket braces and instrument racks, performing required testing of tubing, installing various types of conduit, wire, and cable, and conducting unit certification, final inspection, and test documentation. All employees are expected to comply with Archrock's Health Safety and Environmental Policy and relevant regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform all essential duties.
  • Ability to provide direction from blueprints.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems arising during the test cycle.
  • Ability to troubleshoot motor controls (energized).
  • Ability to read blueprints and read/interpret NEC.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read General Adjustment and P&ID drawings.
  • Ability to communicate with suppliers of electrical components to design hook-ups on panels.
  • Ability to assist with mechanical assembly.
  • Ability to comply with all applicable safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Expected to interpret and follow manufacturers Drawings.
  • In depth understanding of panel functions in relation to compressor use and desired customer needs.
  • Expert knowledge of Archrock equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of end devices and system flow.
  • Expert knowledge of tubing types.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Typically at least 5 + years’ related experience.
  • Some experience in the area of electronics.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a safe and well-organized work environment.
  • Perform Major Electrical repairs and installs alone or as part of a team.
  • Completes and submits required documentation in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Utilize on the job training of all shop mechanic personnel.
  • Develop and train entry and intermediate employees.
  • Make changes to panel selection, wiring, etc.
  • Maintain a file of installation design and technique for new units through pictures and diagrams.
  • Diagnosis with factory rep help of PLC panels.
  • Install pneumatic tubing, layout tubing on skids, and connect to end devices.
  • Fabricate bracket braces and instrument racks.
  • Perform required testing of tubing.
  • Bend, fabricate, and install rigid / aluminum EMT, plasti-bond conduit, tubing, and stainless steel 1/4" - 1" thick.
  • Install wire and cable by hand, by machine, and in cable trays.
  • Test control panels and make connections which ensure the function of the panel yields accurate results.
  • Perform unit certification, final inspection, and test document.
  • Make final electrical connections after installation of conduit and tubing.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Shall be in compliance with the Archrock Health Safety and Environmental Policy and local, statutory and/or regulatory requirements at all times.
