About The Position

The Instrumentation & Electrical Shop Technician Intermediate is responsible for maintaining a safe and well-organized work environment, performing minor electrical repairs and installations, and completing required documentation. The role involves installing pneumatic tubing, fabricating bracket braces and instrument racks, installing wire and cable, assisting with panel changes, and maintaining installation design files. Key tasks also include testing control panels, performing unit certification, final inspection, and making final electrical connections. The technician will also perform other assigned duties and must comply with Archrock Health Safety and Environmental Policy and all local, statutory, and regulatory requirements. Requirements

  • Ability to perform all assigned duties.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems arising during the test cycle.
  • Ability to troubleshoot motor controls (energized).
  • Ability to read blueprints and read/interpret NEC.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read General Adjustment and P&ID drawings.
  • Ability to communicate with suppliers of electrical components to design hook-ups on panels.
  • Ability to assist with mechanical assembly.
  • Ability to comply with all applicable safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Moderate understanding of compression service and functionality to understand customer needs.
  • Familiarity with MCC and switchgear.
  • Working knowledge of end devices and system flow.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 year related experience.
  • 2 years electrical experience.
  • Some experience in the area of electronics.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a safe and well-organized work environment.
  • Perform Minor Electrical repairs and installs alone or as part of a team.
  • Completes and submits required documentation in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Utilize on the job training of all shop mechanic personnel.
  • Install pneumatic tubing, layout tubing on skids, and connect to end devices.
  • Fabricate bracket braces and instrument racks.
  • Install wire and cable laid by hand, and in cable trays.
  • Assist with changes to panel selection, wiring, etc.
  • Maintain a file of installation design and technique for new units through pictures and diagrams.
  • Test control panels and make connections in compliance with 10lb pull tests.
  • Perform unit certification, final inspection, and test document.
  • Make final electrical connections after installation of conduit and tubing.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
