About The Position

Cenovus Energy is now seeking an Instrumentation & Electrical Engineer who will be responsible for supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of instrumentation and electrical systems within the South Complex at our Lima Refinery. This role partners closely with operations, maintenance, and reliability teams to ensure measurement accuracy, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of plant performance. This position is ideal for an early-career engineer looking to grow technical expertise while contributing directly to site business objectives.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the US
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in industrial electrical, instrumentation, controls, process engineering, or a closely related field
  • Basic knowledge of instrumentation principles (flow, pressure, level, temperature measurement)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
  • Technical curiosity and willingness to learn
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Collaboration across operations, maintenance, and engineering teams

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day technical support for field instrumentation and control valves
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation failures and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime
  • Assist in calibration, configuration, and commissioning of instrumentation system
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs for instrumentation assets
  • Work with Functional Team I&E Engineer to analyze recurring instrumentation and electrical bad actors and big hitters, and implement recommended solutions
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to improve work processes and reduce equipment failures
  • Identify and implement improvements to enhance process control, safety, and efficiency related to instrumentation and electrical systems
  • Contribute to Management of Change (MOC) processes and ensure proper documentation updates
  • Provide day-to-day technical support for field electrical equipment including lighting, receptacles, electric heat trace, minor motor control and electrical systems, etc.
