The Instrument and Controls Designer is responsible for ensuring the Hexagon SmartPlant 3D environment for the Low Temperature and Cryogenic Storage Tank product line is populated with the correct instrumentation, hardware, etc. and that all the requisite attributes are entered such that the project deliverables related to the instrumentation discipline can be produced from the system. The work includes among other things, development of block diagrams, support during precontract efforts, developing instrument layouts, junction box layouts, wiring diagrams, cable routing drawings, instrument installation details, instrument lists, material take-offs, etc. Over the course of time, capabilities in instrumentation must increase as knowledge of product line and deliverables improves and expectations expand for working independently with less supervision. The role reports to the Piping to Grade Manager and routinely interacts with other Discipline Engineers, Designers and Lead/Project Engineers.
