About The Position

The Instrumentation Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the management, maintenance, availability, quality, and inventory of surgical instrumentation and equipment utilized throughout the hospital. This position serves as a liaison between Sterile Processing, Operating Room (OR), Surgical Services, vendors, and clinical departments to ensure instrumentation is available, functional, compliant with regulatory standards, and supports safe patient care. The Instrumentation Coordinator oversees instrument tracking, repair programs, inventory optimization, loaner instrumentation management, quality assurance initiatives, and process improvement activities while maintaining compliance with AAMI, Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, and hospital policies.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3–5 years Sterile Processing experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Healthcare Sterile Processing Association CRCST Certification or Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician Certification required.
  • Advanced knowledge of surgical instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of instrument repair processes and standards.
  • Strong understanding of AAMI standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience using CensiTrac or similar instrument tracking systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with surgeons, OR leadership, and vendors.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Excel.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience coordinating instrumentation, inventory management, or surgical services preferred.
  • Experience with pediatric instrumentation preferred.
  • Associate's Degree preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field preferred.
  • CIS (Certified Instrument Specialist) certification preferred.
  • CHL (Certified Healthcare Leader) certification preferred.
  • CER (Certified Endoscope Reprocessor) certification preferred.
