About The Position

The Instrumentation, Controls & Electrical (IC&E) Maintenance Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, repair, and reliability improvement of plant instrumentation, control systems, electrical equipment, and emissions monitoring systems. This position supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a combined-cycle power generation facility by ensuring all plant control, instrumentation, and electrical systems are maintained in accordance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. The IC&E Technician works closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Contractor personnel to maintain plant equipment, execute maintenance activities, support outages, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 4-6 years of industrial maintenance experience in instrumentation, controls, or electrical systems, preferably in power generation, refineries, chemical plants, or heavy industrial facilities.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting industrial control systems and electrical equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and control logic documentation.
  • Proficiency using test equipment such as multimeters, meggers, process calibrators, and loop calibrators.
  • Must be a successful candidate on the Plant Operator Selection System/Power Plant Operations and Maintenance (POSS / MASS) program.

Responsibilities

  • Install, calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain instrumentation and control systems throughout the facility.
  • Maintain and support Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), and related control network infrastructure.
  • Perform configuration, testing, tuning, and troubleshooting of Emerson Ovation Control Systems, GE Mark VIe Control Systems, Allen-Bradley and other PLC Systems.
  • Calibrate and maintain pressure transmitters, temperature instruments, flow instrumentation, level instrumentation, vibration monitoring equipment, analytical equipment, and control valves and actuators.
  • Support turbine control system maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Perform loop checks, functional testing, and startup verification activities.
  • Analyze equipment performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability and availability.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and test plant electrical equipment, including motors, motor control centers (MCCs), switchgear, breakers, transformers, battery systems, UPS systems, and protective relaying systems.
  • Perform electrical fault investigation and root-cause analysis.
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs for electrical equipment.
  • Read and interpret one-line diagrams, wiring schematics, control drawings, and electrical construction drawings.
  • Assist with equipment commissioning and acceptance testing.
  • Support work on medium-voltage systems up to 4160V.
  • Maintain Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) in compliance with environmental regulations and permit requirements.
  • Perform calibrations, linearity testing, relative accuracy testing support, analyzer maintenance, and data validation activities for CEMS.
  • Troubleshoot emissions monitoring equipment and associated control systems.
  • Maintain documentation supporting environmental compliance.
  • Execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Identify equipment deficiencies and initiate corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement reliability improvements.
  • Participate in outage planning, execution, and post-outage reviews.
  • Support root-cause failure analysis investigations.
  • Assist in equipment startup and return-to-service activities following maintenance.
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors during maintenance and outage activities.
  • Utilize the site Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), such as Maximo and MS Office products like Excel, Word, and SharePoint.
  • Create work orders, document completed work, track materials, and record labor and equipment history.
  • Maintain and update instrument indexes, electrical drawings, control system documentation, P&IDs, and panel schedules.
  • Develop and maintain maintenance procedures and job plans.
  • Follow all company, environmental, health, and safety policies.
  • Support and actively participate in Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Electrical Safe Work Practices, Arc Flash Program requirements, Confined Space requirements, and Plant safety initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with NERC, OSHA, environmental, and company standards as applicable.
  • Participate in emergency response activities when required.
