The Chemical Research and Development Manufacturing (CRDM) Team in Groton, CT is seeking candidates for an Instrumentation and Controls Technician. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team responsible for maintaining equipment used in the manufacture of API at kilo lab scale. What You Will Achieve This role is part of Worldwide R&D and is primarily engaged in the execution of CRDM instrumentation and control tasks such as commissioning, reviewing vendor documents, and troubleshooting issues. The Instrumentation and Controls Technician will coordinate and collaborate with personnel from CRD Manufacturing, Drug Product Supply Manufacturing, Global Workplace Experience, and other stakeholder groups to execute on-time cGMP and EHS compliant activities. This role will report to the CRDM automation.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma with 2-4 years of experience and/ or demonstrated aptitude with mechanical, equipment, electrical and/or instrumentation maintenance.
  • Associates Degree with 1-2 years of experience and/ or demonstrated aptitude with mechanical, equipment, electrical and/or instrumentation maintenance.
  • Proficient computer skills and/ or the ability to learn or operate Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and Pfizer applications.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical safety.
  • Must be electrically inclined with high attention to detail and able to learn quickly, have good problem solving, written and verbal communication skills, and is well organized.
  • Ability to read and understand standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Assists others with problem solving and troubleshooting electronic components and point to point troubleshooting.
  • Proven mechanical capabilities and focus on safety.
  • Must be able to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
  • Must be amenable and able to donn/doff personal protective equipment and working in the vicinity of hazardous materials.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (ex: volume determination, density conversions, gross / tare / net calculations).
  • Ability to reach from floor to above head height.
  • Ability to stand continuously for 2 hours.
  • Must have permanent work authorization in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of I&C principles related to but not limited to: Level, Flow, Temperature, Pressure, conductivity, pH a plus.
  • Should have an understanding and know the difference and interactions between voltage, current and resistance.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains facility cGMP mechanical equipment and instruments with minimal supervision and within defined operating parameters.
  • Assists with complex instrumentation and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Executes and documents work in a cGMP compliant manner.
  • Supports facility projects and design.
  • Participate in department meetings and safety meetings.
  • Commitment to continually improving skills through participation in educational opportunities, whether offered as on the job or as additional training.
