About The Position

Amentum is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to support the Spent Fuel Handling Project (SFHP) near Idaho Falls. This role will provide expertise for construction, testing, and commissioning, supporting all aspects of I&C engineering. Responsibilities include reviewing and checking design documents and I&C deliverables, originating and checking standard I&C deliverables such as P&IDs, Instrument Lists, IO Lists, Cause and Effect Matrix, control narratives, loop drawings, control system architecture drawings, instrument datasheets, and sizing instrumentation. The engineer will also create specifications for industrial control systems, instruments, and final control elements. Familiarity with ISA standards, system design, data collection, systems engineering and analysis, problem resolution, and documentation of results is required. The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with individuals at all levels of the company and the client is essential.

Requirements

  • 5+ Years of experience in the Instrumentation and Controls field
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET Accredited program (15 years of relevant I&C experience will be considered in lieu of an engineering degree)
  • Demonstrated experience working on a range of projects from concept through construction and commissioning
  • Knowledge of design, construction methodology, material application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness
  • Ability to understand and follow established Amentum quality procedures
  • Experience working within a quality system based on ISO 9000 or NQA-1
  • Competent using Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to work onsite at Idaho National Lab daily if needed
  • Must be able to show proof of US citizenship
  • Familiarity with ISA standards
  • Experience with system design, data collection, systems engineering and analysis, problem resolution, and documentation of results

Nice To Haves

  • Able to lead groups of engineers and designers to complete technical portions of projects within established budgets and schedules.
  • Experience with Department of Energy (DOE) standards and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations

Responsibilities

  • Provide instrumentation and controls engineering expertise in support of the SFHP Project.
  • Support construction, testing, and commissioning.
  • Support all aspects of I&C engineering.
