About The Position

This role is responsible for maintaining plant instrumentation and controls, access control and security, and electrical power systems. The technician will adjust, maintain, troubleshoot, and correct problems within these systems, including AC electrical, gas quality, and measurement equipment. Key duties involve performing board replacements, configuring, rebooting, and reloading programs for various control systems, and conducting calibrations that require external signal imposition. The position also includes managing spare parts inventory, recording and evaluating operating data to ensure equipment performance, and completing reports using both paper and electronic methods. Continuous training is required to maintain qualifications per DOT, State, and Local regulations. The technician must ensure work adheres to codes and company standards, oversee contractor work, potentially work rotating shifts, respond to after-hours call-outs, and perform other assigned plant duties. This role also involves performing the duties of and assisting in training lower classifications.

Requirements

  • Must have High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must have valid state Diver's License
  • Must have a RI Electricians license
  • Must be mechanically inclined
  • Must pass Field Assessment Test
  • Incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation ("DOT") covered positions, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA). As such, the Company’s testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited drugs or alcohol, for recreational or medical purposes, will remain in effect for these safety-sensitive, DOT covered positions.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain plant instrumentation and controls, access control and security, and electrical power systems.
  • Adjust, maintain, troubleshoot, and correct problems with instrumentation and control, access control and security and electrical power systems.
  • Correct problems with AC electrical, gas quality and measurement equipment.
  • Perform board replacement, configures, re-boots and re-loads programs for instrumentation and control, RTU's and PLC's, gas and fire detection, plant access and security, gas quality and measurement equipment.
  • Performs calibrations to instrumentation and control equipment that requires the imposition of a signal form and outside device.
  • Maintains inventories of spare parts and materials in an orderly manner.
  • Records and evaluates operating data and initiates corrective action to maintain required performance of equipment and alerts supervision to potential problems and failures.
  • Accurately and legibly record operating data and complete reports using paper and electronic mediums.
  • Participates in continuous, routine training for operations, maintenance, security and fire protection to stay qualified for this classification per DOT, State and Local regulations.
  • Ensure work is performed to Code(s) and Company standards, oversee the work performed by contractors, work rotating shifts if required, respond to after hours call outs and perform any other plant work as assigned.
  • Performs the duties of and assists in training lower classifications.
