About The Position

HF Sinclair in Anacortes, WA is seeking an I&E Technician. This position's primary duties include: troubleshooting, testing, repairing of existing installations and maintaining Instrument and Electrical systems. The job is field-based and requires flexibility with changing schedules, including willingness to work overtime, 10-hour shifts, and in adverse weather conditions. Requirements

  • Two (2) of more years of verifiable instrumentation/electrical experience.
  • Willingness to support HF Sinclair's policy of a drug-free work environment
  • Legal right to work in the United States
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays and overtime
  • Willingness to work at heights, walk on high elevation grating and to walk up and down stairs
  • Willingness to work in confined spaces
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English
  • Reside within 60 miles of the site, or relocate without assistance to within 60 miles
  • Willingness to work outside in inclement weather
  • With proper training, you must be willing to use safe lifting techniques to lift 50 pounds from the ground to waist level
  • You must be comfortable using computers in a work environment.
  • Must be flexible to changing schedule.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
  • Able to work 10-hour shift schedules.
  • Able to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Must be able to grip, hold, operate various power tools and make precise hand and finger movements.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to lift, carry, climb, walk, stand, stoop, kneel, push, reach, climb stairs and ladders and have a sense of balance.
  • Able to hear alarms, emergency horns and make visual inspections.
  • Able to wear and utilize negative and positive pressure breathing apparatus.

  • Instrumentation and Control Technology AAS degree.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all job tasks with safety and respect for the environment as the number one priority.
  • Perform job tasks in a motivated, self-directed fashion independently or as part of a team.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, install, and calibrate, pneumatic, electronic and HART protocol flow, pressure, level and temperature field instrumentation.
  • Basic understanding of control valves and positioners to troubleshoot control loops.
  • Have a basic understanding of Honeywell DCS systems to troubleshoot control systems.
  • Have a basic understanding of PLC hardware and ladder logic to troubleshoot systems.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain 480 volt motor control systems.
  • Follow NFPA 70E safe work practices and the NEC while working on electrical systems.
  • Test, maintain and document Safety shut down systems.
  • Communicate to operations, and supervision verbally and in writing details regarding job tasks.
  • Use a basic understanding of the SAP work order system to access and write work orders.
  • Receive training on or off site to be qualified to perform successfully as an I&E tech.
  • Be willing to train other personnel in any instrument/electrical functions.
  • Read and comprehend instrument and electrical drawings to troubleshoot and repair systems.
  • Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.
