Instrument Technician - Austin Industrial (Channelview, TX)

Must be able to install, test, calibrate, troubleshoot, overhaul and repair electrical, controlling, indicating and measuring instrument devices to ensure specified operating performance using hand tools, testing and calibrating instruments and equipment and precision measuring instruments. Ability to read and understand manuals, wiring or instrumentation schematics and testing specifications. Must be able to troubleshoot electric motors, install wiring to circuits, etc. Must have some knowledge of electrical schematics and PLCs. Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States.
- 4 years of Journeyman level experience.

- TDLR
- a valid Driver’s License
- TWIC Card.
- Employees must be able to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and use hands and fingers to perform assigned duties.
- Positions may require lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds, working at elevations, on uneven surfaces, or in confined spaces.
- Employees must possess sufficient visual, hearing, communication, and motor skills to safely perform job responsibilities.

- Work may be performed in industrial and construction environments with exposure to weather conditions, temperature extremes, noise, dust, fumes, moving equipment, vibration, and other site-specific hazards.
- Employees must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and meet all customer, site, regulatory, medical, and fitness-for-duty requirements applicable to the position.
- Must be able to perform all job duties while maintaining a commitment to safety, quality, and productivity expectations.

Responsibilities
- Ability to build Control Panels from scratch
- Instrument installation and mounting
- Tubing and impulse line installation
- Junction box terminations
- Basic conduit installation practices
- Reading and interpreting P&IDs
- Loop diagrams
- Electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Tracing signal paths and understanding control loop functions
- Calibration of pressure, temperature, flow, and level instruments
- Control valve maintenance and troubleshooting
- Instrument loop checks and signal verification
- Diagnosing instrument and control system failures
- Identifying wiring and electrical issues
- Verifying sensor outputs and determining root causes
- Distinguishing between electrical, mechanical, and process-related problems
- Basic PLC knowledge
- Process control loop fundamentals
- HMI operation and navigation
- AC/DC fundamentals
- Ohm's Law and electrical measurements
- Multimeter use
- Loop checks
- Motor controls, including starters, relays, contactors, and VFDs
- Other duties as assigned.
