Instrument Technician I, II, or III - St. Paul, VA
About The Position
Dominion Energy seeks a highly motivated Instrument Technician I, II, or III. There is one position available that will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. This role involves inspecting, testing, servicing, repairing, configuring, calibrating, and installing indicating, recording, and automatic control instruments such as flow meters, pressure gauges, thermometers, regulators, systems, and similar components in a power station. The technician will locate the cause of defective instrument performance, report findings to a supervisor, and replace component parts as required. This position utilizes portable pressure gauges, manometers, and other similar test equipment for diagnostics. Responsibilities include performing preventive maintenance, testing flue gas, reading meters, and recording data. The higher levels of this role work on complex and detailed systems and equipment, perform required engineering functions for control loop modifications, maintain drawings and configuration documentation related to instrumentation, and may act as a project leader for control system upgrades and/or modifications. There is also potential to train and guide less experienced Instrument Technicians.
Requirements
- Instrument Technician I: Associate's Degree in Electronics or related technology, with 0 - 2+ years of related experience in an industrial environment OR High School Diploma or GED with at least 2 years of related experience in an industrial environment.
- Instrument Technician II: Associate's Degree in Electronics or related technology, with at least 3 years of related experience in an industrial environment OR High School Diploma or GED with at least 5 years of related experience in an industrial environment.
- Instrument Technician III: Associate's Degree in Electronics or related technology, with at least 5+ years of related experience in an industrial environment OR High School Diploma or GED with at least 7 years of related experience in an industrial environment.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot various components.
- Ability to utilize configuration drawings.
- Valid Driver's license.
Nice To Haves
- Fossil power station instrumentation and controls experience
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS)
- Start-up/operational support experience for fossil power plants
- Experience with Emerson Ovation controls
- Control system upgrade experience
- PLC experience (to include ladder logic programming)
Responsibilities
