About The Position

The Instrument Technician II must have the knowledge and ability to manage electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems. This role involves interpreting and applying information from various technical documents, identifying and safely using power tools, recognizing piping system materials and handling techniques, and selecting and safely operating equipment such as manlifts, forklifts, and company trucks. The technician will demonstrate an understanding of unit stability in relation to instruments, process, and analyzers, as well as basic knowledge of mechanical and process systems. Key responsibilities include checking flows, pressures, and temperatures, safely monitoring repair sample systems, operating various test equipment, and performing instrument reapplications. The role also requires the ability to design and construct complex sample systems, including wiring and conduit, and a thorough knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and publications. Planning and coordinating work with other technicians is also essential.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or G.E.D.
  • Must have at least four (4) years of training or experience as an Analyzer Technician I or equivalent.
  • Must have skills in conduit, tubing, and piping installation.
  • Must be able to mount stands and install instruments.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • TWIC required.
  • Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License with minimal infractions.

  • The employee must be able to use standard and/or metric rule to measure.
  • Demonstrate ability to use basic math calculations for measuring and cutting pipes accurately.
  • Accurately follow instructions.
  • Installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately interpret and apply information from work orders, job orders, specifications, blueprints, ISO’s or other drawings.
  • Recognize basic blueprint terms and symbols for job application.
  • Identify, recognize, and demonstrate safe usage of power tools appropriate for the job.
  • Recognize various materials used in piping systems and demonstrate a working knowledge of appropriate material handling techniques.
  • Select and safely use appropriate equipment which may include (but not limited to) manlifts, forklifts, and company trucks.
  • Demonstrate understanding of unit’s stability as it pertains to the relationship between the instruments, process and analyzer.
  • Demonstrate basic understanding of mechanical and process systems.
  • Demonstrate ability to check flows, pressures, and temperatures of the sample system.
  • Demonstrate ability to safely monitor a repair sample system.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill required to accurately operate on various types of test equipment available on sites.
  • Demonstrate skill in instrument reapplications.
  • Demonstrate ability to design and construct complex sample systems including wiring, conduit, etc.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all codes, standards, application manuals, and publications.
  • Demonstrate planning capabilities in coordinating work with other technicians.
