About The Position

As an Instrument Person at LJA Surveying, you will be responsible for transporting and setting up instruments and equipment associated with surveying land and preparing job sites for survey. This role involves working outdoors, clearing brush, laying out stakes, holding prism poles, and measuring distances to help determine elevations and horizontal measurements. You will also assist with various survey equipment under the direction of the Party Chief.

Requirements

  • HS Graduate or GED
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external clients
  • Occasional lifting/carrying of 25 pounds and up to 50 pounds
  • Driving to and from various project sites
  • Walking and working outdoors under variable weather conditions

Responsibilities

  • Transport and set up instruments and equipment associated with surveying land and preparing job site for survey
  • Clear brush or trees away from survey line
  • Lay out stakes to prepare for elevation measurements
  • Hold prism pole steady for the surveyor to help determine elevations of different points
  • Measure how far different points are from each other horizontally
  • Help with various pieces of survey equipment
