About The Position

The Virginia Tech School of Neuroscience is seeking a full-time Instructor to teach undergraduate neuroscience students. The primary responsibility is to teach approximately nine laboratory credit hours per academic semester within the neuroscience curriculum, including Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience, and Human Anatomy and Physiology laboratories. This involves preparing and delivering laboratory activities, developing original and engaging laboratory exercises, supervising students during laboratory work, assessing student performance, and maintaining a safe, organized, and inclusive laboratory environment. The position requires excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively with undergraduate students, graduate teaching assistants, and faculty. Collaboration with School of Neuroscience faculty is essential to ensure laboratory activities support course learning objectives. Some evening teaching may be required.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in neuroscience or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience teaching undergraduate students.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.

  • Experience teaching undergraduate laboratory courses.
  • Hands-on experience with molecular or experimental biology techniques.
  • Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
  • Experience creating engaging, hands-on laboratory activities.
