The Department of Pharmacology at the University of Colorado Anschutz School of Medicine is seeking a full-time Instructor to conduct cutting-edge Down syndrome research in the laboratory of Dr. Joaquin Espinosa. The ultimate goal is to significantly improve the quality of life for individuals living with trisomy 21. This position requires extensive experience in immunological and experimental techniques, with a heavy emphasis on new approach methodologies (iPSCs, Organoids, Gene editing) and primary human biospecimens. The successful candidate will have a PhD in Immunology, Molecular Biology, or a related field, relevant laboratory experience, and an exceptional scientific research record. The instructor will join a multidisciplinary team in a highly collaborative environment, focusing on understanding aberrant interferon signaling and immune dysregulation in the context of Down syndrome and other biology, including assay design, optimization, data analysis, and follow-up studies. The role also involves training and supervising junior personnel and applying for NIH grants. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, an independent and critical thinker, a meticulous experimentalist, a team player, and able to multitask in an interactive setting, while maintaining accurate and complete records of all scientific experiments, drafting technical reports and manuscripts, and presenting work as needed.
