Boston University’s College of Engineering, Biomedical Engineering Department is seeking an instructor to teach the graduate course “Introduction to Biological Feedback Control” during the Spring 2027 semester. This interdisciplinary course introduces feedback-control concepts from perspectives in the natural sciences and engineering. It is open to graduate students and senior undergraduate students from engineering, natural science, physical science, and data science backgrounds. The course is organized into six units. Each unit uses current research and peer-reviewed literature to examine an example of biological or bio-inspired feedback control, along with mathematical and physical models and tools that can be used to design or analyze such systems. Classes meet twice a week for 1 hour and 45 minutes per meeting on Boston University’s Charles River Campus. Expected enrollment is 20–35 students, with students from diverse disciplines, including biology, chemistry, engineering, and physics. The course is an entry point to a graduate training program in biological feedback control. The instructor can join a growing community of students, faculty, and staff in this field. Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV or resume, and a one-page teaching statement to [email protected]. Requests for more information may be sent to the same email address.
