UCLA Extension seeks experienced professionals to serve as part-time instructors for courses in its Construction Management and Plumbing System Design certificate programs. Instructors teach in one or more modalities: fully online, live online via Zoom, or in person in Westwood or downtown Los Angeles. They bring practical industry expertise and examples to create engaging, relevant learning experiences for adult students. Applications are accepted throughout the year to meet immediate program needs and build the instructor pool. Courses may cover Hospital and Laboratory Plumbing Systems Design; Introduction to Building Information Modeling (BIM); Plumbing Systems Design; Construction Management Fundamentals; Construction Materials and Building Systems; Construction Scheduling with Primavera (and Procore); Construction Cost and Estimating; Legal Aspects of Construction Projects and Contracts; and Construction Job Site Management. Instructors develop or update syllabi in consultation with the UCLA Extension Program Director, prepare course materials and assessments in Canvas, explain course objectives and learning outcomes, engage with and support students, assess coursework, grade promptly, and submit final letter grades at the end of each academic quarter. For fully online courses, instructors hold weekly optional Zoom office hours and interact with students’ Canvas discussion posts weekly, preferably daily. Employment is governed by UCLA Extension instructor contract terms and conditions.
